The first session is an introduction to what will be done during the month.:

• Overview of rotation

  • Rotation content

  • Calendar

  • Mechanics of rotation

  • Laptop computers

  • Projects - Demonstration of past project

• Health problems

  • Local area health problems

  • Practice site characteristics

  • Practice site health parameters

• Health problems prioritization exercise

  • Begin to identify direction for research project

Objectives of rotation:

1. Residents will acquire skills in collecting and analyzing population information, health care delivery information and health status information for their patient practice and the community.

2. Residents will learn how to integrate public health principles with their primary care clinical role in everyday practice.

3. Residents will expand their practice to include preventive activities for targeted subpopulations at risk at the level of their practice and the larger community.
